Job Details Job Location: Gary Salvage Outlet - Gary, IN Position Type: Full Time Education Level: None Salary Range: $17.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Day Job Category: Retail Description Job Objective: To ensure the daily efficient operation of all mechanical equipment within the Plant and Stores. The Maintenance Specialist reports directly to the Transportation/Salvage Outlet Manager, who evaluates performance annually. Essential Job Functions: Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: “Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.” Perform proper repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment for proper operation. Perform regular cleaning of major equipment. Perform needed work at any Goodwill location. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Required Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of carpentry and plumbing. Skilled in maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment. Self-starter with the ability to work independent of close supervision. Ability to be responsible for the proper use of maintenance tools and company pick-up truck and for the proper return of same. Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites. Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights from a ladder. Ability to bend, stoop and crouch. Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 50+ pounds at times. Ability to work in a light industrial plant and adjoining buildings. Ability to work with light industrial machinery and electrical equipment. Ability to work in a retail environment. Ability to work around textile dust. Equipment Used: All tools necessary for the proper repair and maintenance of Goodwill properties. All tools used in general building and maintenance trades. Responsibilities
