SAMPLE LOGISTICS MANAGER

RPS is actively looking for a Sample Logistics Manager to provide vital support to our esteemed Laboratory team located in Bedford, on a full time, permanent basis.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An interest in science, preferably with qualifications related to the science field.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment would be desirable.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to cope under pressure.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Previous experience of working in a laboratory setting would be advantageous.
  • Experience of line management responsibility would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working with a LIMS software programme would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Daily management of the Logistics Team to ensure that they are equipped to perform their duties smoothly and to achieve on-time delivery to the required level of quality.
  • Monitor and manage all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), challenges, risks and opportunities for the Teams and communicate this to Senior Management in respective management meetings.
  • Communicate resource requirements for individual projects and for developing annual operating budgets.
  • Active management of the Customer Experience (CX) including problem solving, maintaining a high quality of service, and attending to client queries and complaints.
  • Ensure that the Team maintain their respective work areas through regular inspection and communication.
  • Ensure that the Team members are trained and competent to perform duties as required.
  • Raising and reviewing NWR’s for the Team and lead investigations where necessary for process improvements.
  • Work with Teams members and Clients to provide creative troubleshooting and problem solving to ensure work is delivered on time.
  • Ensure that all container requirements, chain of custody documents are accurate and up to date for each project and link to the Suites on LIMS by interfacing with the LIMS Team.
  • Overall management and sign-off logistics and sampling schedules with clients and the Team.
  • Ensuring that team members have required security and H&S measures in place.
  • Ensure that vehicle inspections and other checks are performed to ensure that fleet of vehicles are maintained and ready for use.
  • Ensure temperature logs are saved as appropriate after each transport event.
  • Ensure 100% on-time delivery and collection of samples from client as per project requirements and sampling schedules.
  • Maintain an inventory system to ensure required consumable stock is maintained.
