This role supports the manufacturing of grapple trucks, grapple loaders, knuckle boom loaders, and related heavy equipment products by ensuring components meet company quality and coating standards. Key Responsibilities * Perform abrasive blasting of fabricated steel components, assemblies, truck bodies, booms, and related equipment. * Prepare surfaces for paint and coatings by removing rust, mill scale, weld splatter, grease, and contaminants. * Operate blasting equipment, compressed air systems, vacuum recovery systems, and related tools safely and efficiently. * Inspect parts before and after blasting to ensure quality standards are met. * Mask and protect surfaces not requiring blasting or coating. * Load, move, and position materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, hoists, or other material handling equipment as authorized. * Maintain blast media and monitor equipment performance for proper operation. * Clean and maintain blasting equipment, work areas, and containment systems. * Follow production schedules and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines. * Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, job travelers, and production documentation. * Comply with all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and OSHA requirements. * Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and supplied-air systems. * Assist with paint preparation, coating operations, or general production tasks as needed. * Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues to supervision. * Participate in continuous improvement and housekeeping initiatives. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or GED preferred. * Minimum 1 year of industrial sandblasting, surface preparation, manufacturing, or related experience preferred. * Ability to safely operate industrial blasting equipment and hand tools. * Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes. * Ability to read tape measures and basic shop documentation. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in heavy equipment, truck body, trailer, agricultural, or construction equipment manufacturing. * Forklift and/or overhead crane experience. * Experience working with epoxy, primer, or industrial coating systems. * Familiarity with OSHA and industrial safety standards. Special Certifications and Requirements Required * Ability to pass respirator medical evaluation and fit testing in accordance with OSHA regulations. * Ability to safely wear respiratory protection equipment. Preferred Certifications * Forklift Operator Certification. * Overhead Crane Certification. * OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification. * Hazard Communication (HazCom) training. * Confined Space Awareness training. * Industrial coating or abrasive blasting certification (if applicable). Physical Requirements * Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach throughout the workday. * Frequently use hands and arms to handle tools, hoses, controls, and materials. * Lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly. * Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and industrial manufacturing environments. * Tolerate exposure to noise, dust, vibration, heat, cold, and fumes consistent with industrial blasting operations. * Maintain sufficient visual acuity to inspect surfaces and identify defects. * Work overtime or flexible hours as production demands require. Wear required PPE for extended periods, including: * Respirators or supplied-air blasting hoods * Safety glasses * Hearing protection * Protective gloves and clothing * Steel-toe footwear Work Environment * Heavy industrial manufacturing environment. * Exposure to moving mechanical parts, compressed air systems, airborne particles, and industrial chemicals. * Work may occur indoors and outdoors depending on production needs. * Noise levels are frequently high and require hearing protection.
