Description

Abrades surfaces of metal castings to remove adhering scale, shell, and dirt, and to impact specified finish by performing the following duties. Hourly Pay Rate: $18.00-$19.00/hr. entry level Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: * Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper * Loads parts into cabinets * Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel. * Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts. * Directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval. * Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications. * Check sandblast cabinets after each break & end of shift, and check the blast nozzle for wear * Check appearance of the Aluminum Oxide blast media, dispose of media that appears “powdery”, replenish cabinet with new blast media Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) * Minimum experience required 0-3 years * High School diploma preferred not required * Ability to understand basic English * Be able to follow basic instruction and work direction * Requires basic math skills * Requires basic computer skills Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
