JOB SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of Sanitation Associate/Sanitor is to ensure all production areas and production equipment are cleaned, sanitized and ready for use.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Three (3) years of (food manufacturing) sanitation experience
  • Bilingual English-Spanish is a plus
  • Able to work off-shifts when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use independent reasoning and judgment.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of plant personnel (written and verbally).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Food manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Moderate degree of physical activity on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, grasping, climbing, reaching, and moving about the facility
  • Hearing ability to meet manufacturing facility safety requirements
  • Works in high noise area and wears the appropriate hearing protection
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
  • Able to work a multi shift environment
  • Will be required to work around spices and meat ingredients as part of the daily activities
  • Exposed to cold/ heat/ humidity

Responsibilities
  • Observes all safety rules and regulations
  • Identifies and addresses product and processing problems in a timely manner and escalates issues to Sanitation Lead if resolution requires it.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment throughout the plant, according to GMP and Safety Guidelines
  • Prepares areas to be cleaned by setting up safety equipment and organizing supplies
  • Disassembles, cleans, and sanitizes all production equipment in a timely manner
  • Cleans floors and walls of the production area to maintain cleanliness
  • Must be able to safely operate and understands proper machine operating and adjusting procedures
  • Monitor, complete, and maintain efficient and accurate paperwork as needed
  • Works to understand overall impact of his/her job on team productivity and plant profitability, maintains high level of personal productivity and contributes suggestions for work process improvements.
