Description The Sanitation Coordinator serves as the primary owner of sanitation, janitorial, and housekeeping standards across Three Square’s North, South and East campuses. This role provides day-to-day cleanliness, organization, and food safety readiness to support safe warehouse operations, donor confidence, and regulatory compliance. Duties and Responsibilities • Lead daily janitorial and sanitation activities including mopping floors, restroom cleaning, trash removal, and disinfection of warehouse, office, and common areas. • Serve as point person for biohazard cleanup (including human waste and vomit) using approved PPE, chemicals, and SDS procedures. • Own cleanliness and organization standards for interior and exterior areas, ensuring consistent execution across both campuses. • Maintain donor and volunteer tour paths in inspection-ready condition using manual and motorized cleaning equipment. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of cardboard compactor areas daily. • Keep outside storage areas separated, sorted and maintained • Address exterior sanitation issues near pest control stations, steps, doors, trash receptacles, and building entrances. • Coordinate sanitation priorities with Operations and Facilities leadership to minimize disruption to warehouse flow. • Assist Operations staff with spill response, fallen product, damaged product identification, racking sanitation, and equipment cleaning. • Support Facilities Maintenance Coordinator on projects across all Three Square campuses; work at heights may be required. • Operate appropriate motorized (when certified) and manual equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts. • Own housekeeping checklists and sanitation documentation to support audits and inspections. • Ensure proper chemical usage, labeling, storage, and SDS compliance. • Actively monitor sanitation conditions to support AIB, USDA, and SNHD compliance standards. • Report product, packaging, pest, or facility issues promptly. • Maintain communication with Operations, Facilities, and Senior leadership regarding sanitation concerns that may impact safety or efficiency. • Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and lift. • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds. • Must be able to push and pull manual pallet jacks moving loads exceeding 2,000 pounds. • Ability to work at heights and use ladders as required. • Manual dexterity required for operating cleaning equipment and handling tools. Requirements • High school diploma or GED with two years of food warehouse or janitorial experience preferred. • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), sorting, and reading ability. • Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and usage. • Experience operating hand and electric pallet jacks and forklifts preferred. • Ability to communicate clearly via phone and walkie-talkie radio. • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple tasks, handle interruptions, and maintain attention to detail. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Must pass criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening. Working Conditions Work is primarily performed in a warehouse environment and requires prolonged standing and walking on concrete surfaces. The position includes indoor and outdoor duties and exposure to varying environmental conditions. During summer months, temperatures may be extremely hot; during winter months, extremely cold. Employee may frequently enter and exit freezers and coolers, resulting in rapid temperature changes. Employee may be exposed to spoiled food, damaged product, sharp objects, and biohazard materials as part of sanitation and janitorial responsibilities.
