SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

  • Responsible for sanitation of processing plant with emphasis on production area and processing lines such as packaging and evisceration in order to ensure complete removal of all product and by product material and total sanitation of area during shift in order to produce the highest quality products in a safe and efficient manner.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership and co-workers

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • H.S. Education is preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or an industrial plant is preferred.
  • Experience in Sanitation
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Remove screens and covers from processing equipment for cleaning purposes.
  • Operate a high-pressure hot water spray gun used to rinse off food particles and remove foamed chemical compounds.
  • Operate a mechanical foaming unit to apply chemical cleaning compounds.
  • Knowledge of chemicals used for cleaning and where different chemical cleaners are to be used.
  • Areas that are not completely cleaned with foaming cleaner will be hand scrubbed with scouring pads and cleaners.
  • Processing equipment, floors and ceilings are rinsed with high volume cold-water rinse.
  • Airplane brushes are used to clean painted surfaces.
  • Operate conveyors; chill tanks and machines as needed for cleaning with safety as main concern.
  • Remove and soak white plastic conveyors and boning boards in cleaning solutions.
  • Processing work required on occasion.
  • Communicate with fellow employees to complete tasks and adhere to safety standards.
  • Inspecting all plant areas to ensure complete sanitation of area. Removing any product from various machines and ensuring proper removal of waste and inspecting that no waste remains inside machines, on floors, walls, ceilings or in any area of plant.
  • Maintain an understanding of plant equipment operations and belt lifts. Ensure equipment is properly turned off per safety protocols and operating instructions before cleaning or removing waste product.
  • Alert maintenance or management when equipment appears defective or does not meet safety standards or there are concerns.
  • Work to ensure cleanliness of area equipment and ensure food safety standards are adhered to.
  • Ensure all safety and regulatory guidelines are followed. Complete all safety and equipment handling procedures including Hotsy equipment handling procedures.
  • Always work to produce products people can trust by recognizing poor sanitation conditions and correcting and communicating any needed changes in processes to management.
  • Complete all tasks based on required safety guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate housekeeping and sanitation procedures within the plant.
  • Provide prompt, friendly and courteous service to internal and external customers.
  • Continually pursue sustainability of our natural resources with every decision, decreasing waste and being conscious of individual choices.
  • Advocate positive change within our plant and company, empowering one another.
  • Other duties as required.
