2nd Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
or
3rd Shift: Monday - Friday, 10:00 pm - 6:00 am

POSITION SUMMARY:

Sanitation Worker I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the daily cleaning and sanitation of the facility to maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), FDA, OSHA, and company food safety requirements. This position focuses on fundamental cleaning activities, assisting with equipment sanitation, and developing proficiency in sanitation procedures. The Sanitation Worker I plays a critical role in building the foundation for food safety and quality assurance at Westminster Cracker Company.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • No prior experience required; exposure to food manufacturing or industrial sanitation a plus.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, both verbal and written.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation concepts (training provided).
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs. and work in hot, cold, wet, or humid conditions.
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and restocking supplies.
  • Assist in basic dry-clean and wet-clean procedures under direct supervision.
  • Follow cleaning checklists and standard safety practices.
  • Properly use PPE and sanitation equipment (brushes, hoses, chemical dispensers).
  • Handle cleaning chemicals safely and follow the SDS instructions.
  • Support sanitation of production changeovers with guidance from senior staff.
  • Report maintenance issues, unsafe conditions, or food safety concerns immediately to a supervisor.
  • Participate in sanitation and safety training sessions.
