CLOSING DATE: JULY 14, 2025
Teck is a leading Canadian resource company focused on responsibly providing the metals essential for global development and the energy transition while caring for the people, communities and land that we love.
Teck’s two regional business units, North America and Latin America, oversee Teck’s assets through all phases of safe, sustainable development, operation and closure. The business units are supported by enterprise-wide functions that set strategic direction, establish standards and provide governance, as well as supporting the business through shared services, centres of excellence and business partnering.
Reporting to the Lead, ERP Security, the SAP Security Architect ("Architect") is the senior technical role within the risk and security function of the Transformation ERP Team. The role focuses on three major areas:
Security Architecture (50%): The Architect will be responsible for the design and architecture of net new security systems and major improvements to existing systems. This would include Access Management, Privileged Identity Management or other security critical systems.
Security Design Review (25%): The Architect will conduct Security Design Reviews on new SAP system development/applications that are rated as high risk development activities either by size or by security risk profile. In this role, the architect will be acting as an advisor/consultant working with the project teams to ensure appropriate security controls are integrated into the solution design.
Security Risk Assessment (25%): The Architect will assess existing high-risk systems to ensure they are in full compliance with both Teck IS Security policy and industry best practices/standards. In cases of non-compliance, the Security Architect will work with the team to either correct any deficiencies, or to develop appropriate risk acceptance/policy exception as the need arises.
The Architect is responsible for shaping and delivering technical risk management strategies within the SAP security portfolio. This role ensures that security risks are proactively identified and mitigated early in the solution development lifecycle, while also maintaining visibility and control over existing information security risks. The ideal candidate will act as a strategic enabler—supporting business and project success without becoming a bottleneck or gatekeeper.
This is an initial one-year contract with strong likelihood of an one-year extension. Transformation team members work on a 4-day in-office, 1 day remote schedule.
