QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of five years directly related progressively responsible HRIS experience for a large, multisite unionized employer or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Hands on experience configuring and supporting SAP HCM functional modules, schemas, rules, features/functions and program development;
  • Proven supervisory experience with strong leadership, mentoring and team building skills;
  • Demonstrated understanding of SAP R/3 application environment;
  • Certification in SAP HCM;
  • Knowledge and experience in project management methodologies, workload forecasting, documentation and performance standards;
  • Business Re-Engineering skills;
  • Understanding of interfaces between corporate information systems (HRIS, SIS, SAP, SFE, OnSIS) and how they operate and interact;
  • Experience in business and process modeling methodologies and tools, business case development methodologies, system design and analysis;
  • Strong analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills for SAP role based HR/Payroll design;
  • Demonstrated research skills to gather and analyze information and make appropriate recommendations
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, conflict management and time management skills;
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (verbal, oral and written) with all levels of staff as well as external agencies;
  • Knowledge of related TDSB policies and procedures, collective agreements and pertinent legislations;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle matters requiring diplomacy, sensitivity and confidentiality;
  • Proven ability in promoting equitable practices which value inclusiveness and diversity; and
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires occasional travel across TDSB.

Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE

The Toronto District School Board adheres to equitable hiring, employment and promotion practices. Reporting to the Manager, Functional Business Process, the SAP Senior HCM Analyst will provide strategic advice, guidance and senior level expertise on SAP configuration and application support. The SAP Senior HCM Analyst will supervise HRIS Functional Analysts and Business Specialists.

The SAP Senior HCM Analyst will:

  • Provide expertise to support SAP HCM business processes and SAP HR solutions and employee information that will meet the needs of the TDSB to fulfill its mandate;
  • Serve as project lead on SAP HR and other large scale HR initiatives;
  • Provide functional direction to SAP team in the implementation of configuration schema, rules, programming changes, system upgrades and enhancements; and
  • Act as an internal consultant to key business stakeholders and various groups within the TDSB.

NOTE – This position will be supporting the Payroll Module.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Summary of Duties:

  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to management in forecasting system needs and preparing a plan for defining the demand for services and associated resources for SAP HCM modules including Personnel Administration, Time, Benefits, Payroll, Deductions and ESS/MSS;
  • Ensure successful delivery of HR/SAP related projects through planning, development, review and maintenance of project plans, regular status reviews, management reports and problem resolution management of SAP HCM projects;
  • Act as an expert in understanding integration touch points with respect to data usage, data flow and interfaces;
  • Perform senior level configuration and system analysis activities;
  • Responsible for supervising, interviewing and selection of staff, training/instruction, establishment of performance standards and objectives, monitoring of performance and taking corrective actions as required;
  • Provides functional/technical direction/support to the HRIS Team including expertise and mentoring on SAP HCM functions;
  • Define, document and execute remodelling and enhancements of SAP HCM business processes through analysis, designing and delivery solutions using SAP business configuration and development technologies to the related SAP modules;
  • Document and develop the detailed design and configuration processes for the production environment;
  • Translate concepts and/or requirements into actionable activities or items;
  • Assemble appropriate processes, components and capabilities to address requirements for SAP HCM and audit compliance;
  • Develop and maintain up to date Business Processes (with audit controls), Business Process Procedures, Test Scripts, and Configuration documentation;
  • Provide impact/option assessments to facilitate workable efficient solutions;
  • Manage daily issues and problems related the SAP HCM modules including responding to issues escalated by the HRIS team;
  • Diagnose program errors and bugs with ABAP resource and provide the correction with accurate solutions and fixes;
  • Evaluate system strategies related to components not being utilized by the TDSB and/or recommend new initiatives when justified;
  • Work with SAP Functional Analysts, Business Specialists, Integration Testers and Trainers to create and/or facilitate full unit and system testing to ensure the new functionality work according to specifications and requirements;
  • Research and recommend solutions to application issues, develop new techniques and innovative approaches to enhance system functionality and business processes;
  • Provide expert advice on the adaptation and customization of SAP documentation to create TDSB-relevant content (e.g. documentation, reports and training manuals);
  • Identify and address transition issues;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of corporate standards and processes regarding required functionality;
  • Participate in the software design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation workload for upgrades/releases;
  • Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
