We are seeking a Satellite Ground System Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture (MDSEA) organization on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This role supports the development, engineering, and sustainment of satellite ground system elements and mission suites enabling advanced sensing and command-and-control capabilities in a mission-critical environment. What You’ll Be Doing Develop and design solutions to improve the efficiency, security, and sustainability of ground system elements and mission suites within the MDSEA framework Conduct studies and analyses, define detailed requirements, and engineer preliminary and detailed ground system architectures Support system development for enterprise services, satellite ground systems, and operations centers, including supporting facilities Support projects through all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, including initiation, requirements management, task execution, and sustainment Document designs and develop implementation and test plans for execution by sustainment personnel Collaborate with system administrators, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, test teams, project managers, software developers, network engineers, and application teams to ensure integration and compliance Support program milestones by working with Project Managers to define tasks and schedules What You Bring Basic Requirements: Must have 6 years of general (full-time) work experience May be reduced with completion of advanced education Must have 3 years of IT or satellite-related experience Must have 1 year of systems engineering experience related to satellite ground systems Must have a fundamental understanding of requirements analysis and management principles Must have a proficient understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model and engineering lifecycle Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance Desired Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.) Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility Experience supporting the Missile Defense Agency or other DoD organizations Space operations experience Experience developing or editing DoDAF or equivalent architecture framework products Ability to decompose complex mission systems into manageable components Experience developing detailed implementation plans for new systems Experience troubleshooting IT system dependencies and sustainability challenges Familiarity with Agile development methodologies Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Red Hat OpenShift) Experience with SysML and MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, IBM Rhapsody, or Sparx Enterprise Architect Relevant certifications (e.g., INCOSE ASEP, CompTIA Security+) Why LaunchTech?
