SAW OPERATOR

Calgary, AB | Day Shift: 6:00 am -3:30 pm (Mon–Thur) + Friday 6:00 am -2:30 pm

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Saw Operator will be responsible for operating various types of saws and cutting equipment to produce high-quality components according to specifications. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining strict safety, accuracy, and quality standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as a Saw Operator or in a similar metal fabrication role.
  • Proficiency in CNC machinery operations (milling machines, lathes, plasma cutting equipment).
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with ability to troubleshoot machinery issues.
  • Excellent measurement skills and ability to perform accurate calculations.
  • Familiarity with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) and stamping presses is an asset.
  • Experience with welding, tooling, and sheet metal fabrication is advantageous.
  • Valid training/experience in crane and forklift operations preferred.
  • Ability to lift and handle up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities
  • Operate saws and cutting machines to cut materials to specified dimensions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Perform cutting operations on metal sheets, angles, channels, and other materials.
  • Conduct quality inspections using precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Utilize hand tools and fabrication techniques to assist in assembly processes.
  • Maintain saws and cutting equipment, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Plan tasks logically, manage priorities, and work efficiently under production schedules.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and production success.
  • Safely operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Follow safe work practices and contribute to a safety-first culture.
