ZiFi is a digital banking platform within Zions Bancorporation focused on simple, compliant SBA lending for small businesses. We are building our SBA small loan program intentionally—starting small, moving thoughtfully, and scaling with strong credit discipline and modern processes. We’re looking for an experienced SBA Portfolio & Credit Manager who is excited to build, own, and evolve an SBA lending program. This role combines hands-on SBA underwriting, program administration, and team leadership. You’ll manage one team member initially and help grow a small, high impact team as the portfolio expands. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys clarity of ownership, working closely with partners across credit, risk, operations, and technology, and shaping how SBA lending works in a digital first environment. What You’ll Be Responsible For SBA Credit & Underwriting Underwrite and approve SBA 7(a) small business loans, ensuring strong repayment analysis, eligibility, and credit structure Serve as a trusted point of expertise for SBA credit decisions and complex eligibility questions Balance sound credit judgment with a streamlined borrower experience SBA Program Ownership Act as ZiFi’s SBA program administrator, owning adherence to SBA SOPs, procedural notices, and program guidance Monitor SBA policy changes and translate them into clear, practical processes Partner with enterprise SBA, risk, and compliance teams to support delegated authority and program governance Portfolio Management & Monitoring Build and oversee portfolio monitoring practices, including: Risk grading and credit quality reviews Financial statement and covenant tracking Early risk identification and remediation planning Support problem loan and collection efforts in coordination with enterprise partners Process & Platform Development Help design, document, and improve end-to-end SBA credit and portfolio processes Partner with operations and technology teams to implement scalable tools, workflows, and reporting Continuously refine processes as loan volume grows and program needs evolve Team Leadership Directly manage and coach one team member initially, with responsibility to grow the team over time Provide hands-on guidance, training, and development in SBA underwriting and portfolio management Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and sound risk management Risk, Audit & Enterprise Collaboration Partner closely with enterprise credit, operations, finance, risk, and audit teams Support RCSA activities, audits, and regulatory reviews Ensure consistent adherence to policies, procedures, and safety and soundness standards What We’re Looking For Required 6+ years of experience in SBA lending, business banking credit, or portfolio management Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field Strong working knowledge of SBA 7(a) SOPs and eligibility requirements Handson experience underwriting small business loans Prior people management or lead experience Preferred Experience serving as an SBA administrator, SBA SME, or similar oversight role Experience building or enhancing credit, portfolio, or compliance processes Comfort operating in a developing or growth oriented program environment Skills & Attributes Strong credit judgment and risk awareness Practical, solutions oriented approach to compliance Clear communicator who can translate SBA guidance into action Organized, adaptable, and comfortable balancing structure with flexibility Collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams Why ZiFi Help shape an SBA lending program from the early stages Influence how credit, compliance, and portfolio management scale over time Work in a digital first environment with enterprise support Make a direct impact on small businesses and how they access capital Apply today and help us empower small businesses to thrive!
