SBA UNDERWRITING TEAM LEADER

United Community is seeking an experienced and driven SBA Underwriter Team Leader to join our team. This role combines the responsibilities of a Senior SBA Underwriter with leadership duties, including managing a team of underwriters and contributing to strategic initiatives within the SBA Operations Group.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of SBA 7(a) and 504 loan underwriting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SBA lending rules, regulations, and practices
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of loans efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Preferred Knowledge:
  • Formal credit training preferred, e.g., Coleman Certified SBA 7(a), NAGGL Training, Credit Risk Certification, Credit Business Associate, or Commercial Banking & Credit Analyst
  • Industry vertical experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties of a Senior SBA Underwriter, including underwriting SBA 7(a) and 504 loans.
  • Lead and manage a team of SBA underwriters, providing guidance and support.
  • Review pre-approval credit memos and ensure quality and compliance.
  • Attend team leader meetings and contribute to departmental projects.
  • Sign SBA documents on behalf of the bank.
  • Champion operational excellence and team collaboration.
