Description As a Nonprofit Development Intern on SBP’s Development Team, you will play a vital, hands-on role in supporting donor engagement, stewardship, and fundraising initiatives that directly support SBP's impact in disaster recovery, including our continued work in the Gulf South. You will gain essential experience in nonprofit development and fundraising strategy while sharpening your professional writing, communication, and project management skills. Throughout your internship, you will be deeply involved in donor stewardship efforts, supporting the execution of fundraising campaigns and communications, conducting prospect research, helping to maintain accurate donor records in SBP’s database, and collaborating closely with staff across the national Development team. Requirements Donor Stewardship Write thank you notes on a weekly basis Conduct thank-you calls to donors Assist with mailings (mail merge, hand address envelopes, etc) Donor Data management Assist team members with cleaning data sets and prepping them for mailings Update and clean data within Salesforce (SBP’s CRM software) Log donor interactions and activities in Salesforce to support relationship management. Research and update contact information for returned mail and bounced emails. Departmental Assistance Research funding prospects: foundation, corporate, or individual with guidance from dev team. Take notes during meetings or calls Proof-read proposals, emails, appeals, or other donor-facing comms Organize the Development folder as needed Help prep for small events or volunteer groups from strategic partners Other related duties as assigned Qualifications: Current undergrad, graduate student, or recent grads who are actively residing in or near the New Orleans Metropolitan Area Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail. Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace; willingness to learn new tools. Comfortable learning and using database/CRM software (experience with Salesforce a plus, but not required). Demonstrated interest in nonprofit management, fundraising, institutional giving, communications, or related fields (e.g., Marketing, Public Relations). Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Commitment to SBP’s mission of shrinking the time between disaster and recovery.
