Description
Overview At the newly established “Cylinder Retesting Plant,” this role will be responsible for retesting cylinders and their accessories in accordance with Article 49 of the High Pressure Gas Safety Act, as well as managing and evaluating inspection results. The inspection will utilize Japan’s first ultrasonic testing method based on a “special approval” granted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The inspection equipment will involve operating Swiss-made ultrasonic flaw detection devices compliant with ISO and DOT standards. Until the plant becomes operational (around June 2026), the role will also handle preparation tasks related to the new plant start-up. Responsibilities Job Responsibilities Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the following duties will be performed: - Set up and calibrate ultrasonic equipment - Analyze, evaluate, organize, and approve (sign off) test results - Provide guidance to trainees - Conduct on-the-job training (OJT) for UT Level I operators - Maintain detailed records of trainee and Level I operator performance - Identify potential safety issues related to retesting machine operations and prepare NDT work instructions clearly specifying - proper use of all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) - Support the Cylinder Retesting Team Leader in developing processes and procedures for the workflow of all NDT personnel - Prepare manuals for inspection team policies and inspection procedures - Maintain UT equipment in proper condition, perform or request necessary maintenance, and ensure completion - Assist Level I operators in post-test cleaning and confirm that machines and equipment are ready for reuse - Verify that calibration blocks are in proper condition Role of This Position - UT Level II operators are qualified to set up and calibrate UT equipment and interpret, evaluate, organize, and approve UT results based on applicable procedures and standards - UT Level II is responsible for OJT and guidance for trainees and UT Level I personnel - Work closely with the Inspection Coordinator and Regulatory Compliance Officer to update and issue documentation related to UT activities Qualifications Required Qualifications - Mandatory: Ultrasonic Testing Technician Certification Level II - Preferred: High Pressure Gas Production Supervisor License (Class C Chemical or higher) Required Skills - Mandatory: At least one year of experience in judgment tasks for non-destructive testing using ultrasonic testing - Preferred: General PC skills such as MS Office and email
