Description Job Summary The Scanning Clerk is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of product pricing and signage throughout the store. This role supports the stores by maintaining price accuracy, entering new items into the pricing system, and preparing promotional signage. The Scanning Clerk also assists in managing sales batches, supporting department managers with pricing needs, and maintaining product classifications. This position plays a key role in delivering Mackenthun’s Exceptional Experience by providing excellent customer service and assisting with daily store operations. Key Responsibilities Maintain Pricing Integrity: Ensure all products are priced accurately and consistently throughout the store, including entering new items into the pricing system and maintaining accurate price signage. Support Sales & Promotions: Assist with the set-up of batches for sales events, promotions, special sale events, electronic coupons, and change-backs. Signage & Price Accuracy: Prepare and ensure that all pricing signage is correctly displayed, reflecting accurate prices, sales, and promotions. Product Classifications Support: Assist in maintaining product classifications, including WIC eligibility, food stamp eligibility, and tax status for various products. Departmental Support: Work with department managers to ensure pricing aligns with store requirements, including the timely processing of incoming products and updating pricing. Reporting & Research: Provide product movement reports and assist in research related to product availability, ensuring the store is always stocked according to pricing and promotional programs. Promotions & Proofing: Assist with proofing and finalizing upcoming advertisements and ensuring all related pricing is accurate and up-to-date. Other Duties: Support DSD (Direct Store Delivery) operations, including checking in deliveries and processing credits. Handle Amazon, UPS and FedEx deliveries, notifying the appropriate departments or delivering packages as necessary. Greet and assist customers on the sales floor, providing helpful information about products and services. Help in various other areas of the store as needed, including tasks that may arise on a daily basis. Requirements Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Experience: Prior grocery store or retail experience is preferred. Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) and the ability to interact professionally with managers, coworkers, and customers. Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Google Email, Google Workspace, and internet usage. Ability to learn and use various computer systems and pricing technologies. Strong math skills with proficiency in 10-key data entry. Detail-oriented with excellent data entry skills and the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure. Outgoing, energetic, and dependable, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and interest in the food industry. Working Conditions, Physical Demands, and Availability Fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Up to 20 hours per week to include 2 week days (beginning at 8am) and Saturday mornings (6am-10am).
