Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Primary responsibilities include maintaining all aspects of the Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM): infrastructure, administrator console, software/hardware inventory, software distribution, operator consoles and monitoring and alerting, in the Harris Teeter environment. Creation of software packages, including installation/deployment scripting and managing the desktop/laptop imaging process. Managing the patching process of desktops/laptops and assisting in the patching of Windows Servers. This role requires a highly proactive approach and will be expected to lead and drive continual improvements to overall desktop infrastructure optimization & standardization while maintaining a highly stable platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate and oversee in building and maintaining desktop images, assisting in the production and employment of Group Policy Objects to manage the environment, and deployment of images and applications using multiple methodologies, including SCCM.
  • Perform, test, and oversee upgrades to new versions of SCCM as needed and/or required.
  • Troubleshoot SCCM and operating system related issues, as well as secondary technical support to end users and primary IS support staff.
  • Coordinate application releases with the QA team, support teams and business owners.
  • Coordinate release of patches/critical updates and service packs.
  • Manage desktop/laptop security patching process and assist in scheduling and deployment of server security patching process.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on desktop systems and technology.
  • Provide technical assistance to support groups as needed.
  • Monitor desktop platform support queue to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Monitor Microsoft SCCM Platform health and mitigate identified problems.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with support teams regarding application issue resolution and general workstation management support.
  • Knowledge of SCCM software distribution, software patch management, asset inventory management, OS deployment & image creation.
  • Responsible for working with multiple teams to remotely deliver upgrades, updates, patches, & deployment of new applications.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and respond to incoming requests for new packages, patches & updates within published acceptable timeframes.
  • Perform project planning and assigned tasks, preparing and maintaining project schedules, technical reports and updates as required by IS management.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to insure other department associates are trained on all functions of SCCM.
  • Test and evaluate hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing environments.

    Education/Experience:
    Minimum 5 years experience in support of a System Center Configuration Manager environment with at least 2000-2500 SCCM clients.
    Minimum 3 years experience creating software packages in various formats, (MSI & SMS).
    Experience with Microsoft Windows 7/8.1/10 OS & Office 2010/13.
    Experience with Microsoft Active Directory (AD) concepts & management practices.
    Experience with Microsoft Server environments & management practices.
    Experience with scripting languages and methodologies.
    Language Ability:
