Job Details Job Location: Wolf Trap HeadQuarters - Vienna, VA 22182 Position Type: Seasonal Job Category: Opera and Classical Programming Work Schedule: To be discussed with hiring manager Position Location: 100% On-site Pay Rate: Pay rate starts at $21-$25/hr. (based on experience) and is overtime eligible. Position is paid biweekly as W2 employment. Housing is NOT provided for this position. Benefits: 403(b) Retirement Plan; Complimentary tickets to select performances; Discounts at Concessions and the Gift Shop DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: Position is seasonal; 35+ hours per week; from May through the end of August. Early hiring to assist with scene shop opening and setup is available for candidates who can start before May 1st. Start and end dates can be flexible dependent on show requirements. Eligible candidates may start as early as February / March 2026 to assist with pre-season preparations. POSITION SUMMARY: Scenic Artists will assist the Charge Artist in finishing all scenery produced by the scene shop. Scenic Artists will help to plan and efficiently execute all scenic treatments, help to maintain a clean and safe workshop, and help to mentor the Scene Painting Apprentice. All Scenic Staff will assist with load-in and work calls as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete scenic treatments as directed for opera productions at The Barns. Help supervise the safe and clean management of the paint shop and stage. Assist the Charge Artist in mentoring the Scene Painting Apprentice. Finish scenery during load-in and assist with strike. Help to restore the Barns at the end of the season. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete scenic treatments as directed for opera productions at The Barns. Help to restore the Barns at the end of the season. REQUIREMENTS: Prior scene shop experience. Strong knowledge of scenic paint and finishing techniques.
