Description
This role supports the daily operations of an orthopedic office by managing surgical schedules, communicating with patients and clinical teams, and ensuring all pre- and post-operative requirements are completed accurately and on time. It requires strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and excellent patient service. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and maintain all orthopedic surgical scheduling in collaboration with providers, operating room, and other departments Communicate clearly with patients, families, and clinical teams regarding surgery dates, pre-operative instructions, and follow-up appointments Receive and review pre-operative paperwork for accuracy and completeness, including insurance and medical information Create, coordinate, and schedule pre-operative interviews and clearances as needed Notify vendors, ancillary departments, and specialty reps of equipment or implant needs Maintain accurate records of all scheduled surgeries and promptly update changes in the electronic medical record (EMR) Notify internal and external services (e.g., Coumadin Clinic, imaging, PT) of schedule updates or cancellations Provide administrative and communication support to the orthopedic team as assigned Adhere to all safety, confidentiality, and quality standards in accordance with hospital policies Requirements Qualifications: High School/GED 1+ years of experience in ALL of the following: Medical Assistant Healthcare Administration 1+ years of experience in ANY of the following: Allscripts Enterprise EHR Allscripts Professional EHR Other EMR 1+ years of experience in ANY of the following: Medical Terminology Orthopedic Procedures Insurance Authorization ANY of the following valid licenses/certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) American Red Cross Basic Life Support (ARC BLS) American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS)
