Description

Great manufacturing starts with a great plan.

We’re looking for an experienced Production Planner to join R.M.Williams in Adelaide and help turn customer demand into achievable production plans across our manufacturing operation.

You’ll work at the intersection of people, materials, machinery and customer demand, helping our teams understand what needs to be produced, when it needs to happen and what might get in the way. If you enjoy solving production challenges, working with data and seeing the direct operational impact of your decisions, this could be a great next step.

Reporting to the Production Planning & Materials Manager, you’ll take customer demand and operational requirements and turn them into practical, achievable production plans.

Working across short, medium and longer-term planning horizons, you’ll balance demand with available labour, materials, equipment and production capacity. You’ll stay close to what’s happening on the production floor, identify potential constraints early and work with teams across the business to keep production on track.

This is a hands-on planning role suited to someone who enjoys solving problems, working with data and collaborating across a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly and monthly production plans and schedules
  • Translate customer demand, inventory requirements and manufacturing capacity into achievable production plans
  • Analyse capacity against current and forecast demand, identifying potential labour, material or equipment constraints
  • Prioritise production orders to support customer delivery requirements and operational priorities
  • Balance workloads across production lines and shifts
  • Partner closely with Production, Procurement, Warehouse, Maintenance, Quality, Sales and Customer Service teams
  • Identify scheduling conflicts, production constraints and material shortages before they impact delivery
  • Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods inventory against production requirements
  • Adjust production plans when priorities change, including equipment downtime, labour availability, material constraints or urgent customer requirements
  • Develop alternative production scenarios and recommendations when plans need to change
  • Track planned versus actual production performance and monitor key manufacturing measures including schedule adherence, on-time delivery, production efficiency and capacity utilisation
  • Use production data to identify opportunities to improve planning accuracy, production flow and operational efficiency
  • Contribute to Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives across our operations.
