About Newmont
Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. About the RoleReporting to the Mine Systems Superintendent, the Senior Mine Scheduler ensures continuous 24 hour direction for the Mining Operation. The role plays an integral part in the safe and efficient execution of the mine plan to achieve business KPI’s.

Essential Duties

  • Assist Supervisors and Superintendents with Incident Reporting and Investigation and make Leading Safety Indicators a focus through inspections and observations.
  • Be an effective Leader and Mentor with the crews through communication, coaching and training.
  • Work with the Short Term Scheduling team, providing operational input to develop and execute the weekly plan.
  • Through a robust understanding of the mine priorities and schedule, strategically forecast and manage the mine plan.
  • Continuous improvement of systems and processes.
  • Proactively assist the Operational Superintendents in managing Supervisor Coaching within the business.
  • In conjunction with Shift Supervisors, identify solutions to safety and production challenges, issues or opportunities within their area of responsibility.
  • Identify and drive actions to adapt, change, amend or review strategies or plans that are not meeting expectations, in a timeframe that limits negative effects to the business.

  • You will be able to identify and manage risks that will dramatically impact KPI’s

About You

  • Diverse knowledge and experience within the underground mining environment.
  • A Leader and exceptional communicator, with proven ability to clearly and concisely convey complex technical information to both mining crews and senior management.
  • Skills to oversee and drive the execution of the mine plan.
  • Extensive experience in managing and investigating mine safety incidents, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Proven ability to reduce operational risks, leading to a safer and more productive work environment.
  • High level of competency using Microsoft Office Suite is essential and experience with Deswik.OPS will be highly regarded
  • Previous expereinc as a Mine Captain, Formena and/or Mining Coordinator HIGHLY desireabl

Working an 14:14 roster, you can FIFO from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village.
