POSITION: School Adjustment Counselor Grades 2-5QUALIFICATIONS: Masters in School Adjustment Counseling preferredCertification as School Adjustment Counselor with the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requiredJOB GOAL: Assists students through individual casework, community resources, consultation with other school staff members, continuous collaboration with teachers, administrators, and other non-instructional school staff members.PERFORMANCERESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Runs counseling groups with students.2.Interviews, confers or counsels students, parents, or teachers as a means of implementing an educational plan or improving adjustment to school.3.Recommends social agencies in the referral process preparing the student for services and coordinating the delivery of services.4.Helps ease the transition of Special Needs students from grade to grade.5.Communicates closely with administrators re: Special Needs students.6.Other related duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Director of Special EducationREPORTS TO: PrincipalSALARY: Per Unit A Teachers Contract PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTE
