The Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC) builds healthy and engaged neighbourhoods by connecting people and strengthening their capacity to create change.
ANHBC is the legal entity and umbrella organization made up of eight neighbourhood houses, an outdoor camp and central services. ANHBC is currently seeking an experienced School Age Care Educator who shares ANHBC’s values to join our Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House team www.froghollow.bc.ca. Neighbourhood houses are highly collaborative with a strong team framework. The right person for this position is passionate about community development, social justice and is values-aligned with our organization.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate, flexible, and compassionate individual to join our dynamic child care team as a School Age Care Educator in our Village @ Lord Nelson School Age Care program for children ages 5-12 at The Village @ Lord Nelson, 1355 Garden Drive, Vancouver.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

·Completion of a 20 hour course (or willingness to attend training), or a combination of courses in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition
· Ability to provide programming based on the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach and BC’s ELF
· Strength in building and maintaining supportive and collaborative partnerships with children of all abilities
families, and colleagues .
· Creativity, initiative, flexibility, compassion, sense of joy, and enthusiasm
· Passion for ongoing professional development and growth
· Experience working with special needs children is an asset
· First Aid Certificate
Hours: This is a regular part time position at 18.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday 2:30 to 6:00 plus weekly meeting. Hours will vary on School Professional Development Days, and during winter, spring and summer school breaks. In addition, there will be some evening meetings/trainings.
Salary & Benefits: Competitive benefits package including group medical and Municipal Pension Plan, 3 weeks vacation, sick time, and exceptional professional development opportunities. This position qualifies for the additional $6.00 WE for any candidate with ECE.
