REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Sound knowledge of the care and guidance needed to effectively promote and support the healthy social and individual development of school age children, including those with special needs.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable policies, regulations, and files governing the work to be performed.
  • Ability to exercise patience and consistency in the delivery of behav
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families, children, staff, and where appropriate, community resources.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting; be well organized, flexible, and able to adapt to new situations as needed.
  • Must possess strong communication & interpersonal skills and have a good understanding and sense of self.
  • Willing to pursue and participate in ongoing professional development by attending courses and workshops as requested or identified that are related to working with children or teens, families and/or caregivers.
  • An understanding of EDI principles.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 19 years of age.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Emergency First Aid Certification with CPR (minimum 8 hour course).
  • Education Assistant or Responsible Adult Training (20 hours) or equivalent.
  • Clear Criminal Records Check for Vulnerable Persons.
  • Be engaged and able to fully participate, physically, emotionally & mentally and effectively lead children, in a licensed school age care setting, as needed; works closely with the team, children, parents and in community; this includes directly and effectively participating & leading in both indoor & outdoor activities with active school age children.
  • Ideally, at least three (3) months experience working in a similar role.
