MUST BE ABLE TO PASS BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL EXAM, AND DRUG TEST!   Job Summary School Bus drivers are responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and related events. School bus drivers pick up students at a designated location, such as street corners or homes and drop them off at school.   Duties and Responsibilities Transport students in a timely manner to and from school and/or school activities while following safety procedures and applicable State Board of Education rules and regulations. 1. Operate and safely drive a school bus in either good or adverse weather, road and traffic conditions while transporting passengers to school or special events. Comply with traffic regulations while operating vehicles in a safe and courteous manner. 2. Communicate bus rules, safety and behavior requirements to passengers; and address improper behavior immediately while using appropriate interpersonal communication skills. 3. Assist students and passengers boarding and unloading the bus when necessary, including wheelchair students and adaptive equipment. 4. Inspect buses daily to identify and report deficiencies. Perform vehicle maintenance procedures such as fluid and fuel levels, tire pressure checks, clean internal and external areas, install tire chains, and any other normal daily maintenance as required. 5. Comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements. 6. Complete all records and reports timely and accurately and submit to Transportation Department. 7. Read maps, follow written and geographic directions according to route / trip logs. 8.
