Pay Rate is specific to our Bellflower & Long Beach locations. ***Pay rate includes sign on bonus until 06/30/2026 (for new hires only)*** ***Additional work available at different pay rates*** - WALK-INS WELCOME - As a California School Bus Driver, your primary responsibilities include: 1. **Safety and Compliance**: Adhere to all traffic and bus safety regulations as mandated by the state of California. Ensure the safety of all passengers at all times. 2. **Vehicle Operation and Maintenance**: Operate the school bus in a safe and efficient manner. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition. Report any maintenance issues immediately. 3. **Passenger Management**: Maintain discipline and enforce rules on the bus to ensure passenger safety. Address any behavioral issues appropriately and report serious incidents to dispatch department and company administration. 4. **Route and Schedule Adherence**: Follow assigned bus routes and schedules diligently. Make adjustments as needed to accommodate delays or route changes while keeping safety and time efficiency in mind. 5. **Communication**: Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and the dispatch department. Provide updates on bus schedules, delays, or any relevant issues. 6. **Emergency Handling**: Be prepared to respond effectively in case of emergencies. This includes administering first aid if certified, conducting evacuation drills, and knowing how to use safety equipment. 7. **Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate records including trip logs, fuel consumption, student attendance, and other mandatory reports. Ensure compliance with state reporting requirements. 8. **Training and Professional Development**: Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs, including those related to student behavior management, safety protocols, and legal compliance. 9. **Customer Service**: Provide courteous and professional service to all passengers and stakeholders. Address concerns and queries in a respectful and effective manner. 10. **Special Needs Assistance**: If applicable, assist special needs students in getting on and off the bus, including operating any necessary equipment (like wheelchair lifts). Adapt communication and behavior management strategies to accommodate these students. Payment structure includes base wage + anticipated daily performance bonuses. Drivers must maintain full-time status to retain medical benefits. School Bus Drivers with "Conventional" or "Van" licenses only may be subject to a different pay amount. Coach Bus & Transit Bus upgrade training classes are available.
