OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible School Caretaker to join one of our school settings. The School Caretaker plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the school premises. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organisational skills, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to ensuring a conducive environment for children, staff, and visitors.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or certification in maintenance or related field is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in caretaking, janitorial services, or facilities maintenance, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of basic repair techniques and familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and operating cleaning equipment
Responsibilities

Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections of the school buildings, facilities, and grounds to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
Cleaning: Perform daily cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitising various areas such as classrooms, corridors, toilets, and common areas.
Repairs: Carry out minor repairs to fixtures, furniture, equipment, and infrastructure. Coordinate with external contractors for larger repair projects when necessary.
Security: Ensure the security of the premises by locking doors and windows, monitoring surveillance systems (if applicable), and reporting any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
Health and Safety: Uphold health and safety standards by maintaining a clean, hazard-free environment. Assist in implementing safety protocols and procedures.
Groundskeeping: Oversee outdoor areas, including playgrounds and sports facilities, by maintaining cleanliness, tidiness, and ensuring they are safe for use.
Inventory Management: Keep track of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials inventory. Order supplies as needed and maintain proper stock levels.
Event Support: Provide support for school events, meetings, and activities by setting up and arranging furniture, equipment, and other logistical requirements.
Collaboration: Collaborate with school administrators, staff, and external vendors to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the school premises.
Compliance: Adhere to relevant regulations and policies concerning the maintenance and cleanliness of the school premises.
