JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Level 2 award in Food Safety
  • Previous experience within catering for large numbers in a supervisory role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Awareness of Health and Safety, COSHH, dietary and allergen requirements
  • Commitment to providing a high-quality and consistent catering service with the ability to work within a busy environment
  • Experience of working within a school environment would be beneficial but not essential

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about food, nutrition, and making a positive difference in children’s lives? We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Chef Manager to lead our school kitchen team and deliver healthy, high-quality meals that our students love.
As the Chef Manager you’ll be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of our school kitchen, managing a small team, and ensuring compliance with food hygiene and health & safety standards. You’ll play a key role in menu planning, budgeting, and promoting a welcoming and inclusive dining environment for pupils and staff alike.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced meals in line with school food standards
  • Lead, motivate and manage the catering team
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene
  • Manage stock levels, orders, and budgets efficiently
  • Liaise with school leadership on dietary needs and menu updates
  • Ensure allergen information is accurately recorded and communicated
  • Foster a positive, friendly atmosphere in the dining hall
