GAD Elementary requires a school counsellor for the 2025-2026 school year . We are a Sikh faith-based school which promotes a collaborative, inquiry-based learning environment for students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. A School Counsellor plays a pivotal role in supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being within an educational setting. They provide guidance, counseling, and advocacy to help students navigate personal challenges, academic obstacles, and social issues.
Whether it’s assisting with career exploration, offering emotional support during difficult times, or facilitating conflict resolution, school counselors work collaboratively to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to students’ overall growth and success. POSTING DETAILS Position - School Counsellor Grade(s) - K-10 Start Date - August 30, 2025 Hours - Full time / Part time Employment - Permanent / Contract REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A Master’s degree in Counselling or Counselling Psychology or equivalent Bachelor of Education (Elementary, Middle or Secondary) degree, or equivalent training Successful teaching experience at the appropriate grade level A valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or in progress. For your application to be considered, all required documents must be included: Resume and cover letter A copy of your transcript (official or unofficial) for your program A copy of the credential received after completing your program Email addresses for a minimum of three references (ideally, administrators from your most recent role) A copy of your Certificate of Qualification or SR in Counselling/Psychology (from the TRB to teach in BC)A comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in the BC Ministry of Education documentsCommitted to the craft of teaching, best practices, and standards of professional practiceExcellent interpersonal, collaborative, communicative, with good problem-solving skillsFlexible, adaptive and can think on your feetA commitment toward continued professional development and growthEnergy, commitment and a readiness to participate in the co-curricular program the diverse life of the school communityMust be BC certified with COQ/CCOQ or SR Independent certificate Must be legal to work in Canada Employment and Application Details: The teaching contract would start September 2025 and continue until June 2026.
