An opportunity is available for a skilled Counselor or Social Worker to provide essential mental health services within a K-8 school setting in Darien, IL. This position focuses on delivering counseling, crisis intervention, and support services tailored to the needs of students, fostering their academic and social-emotional growth throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for K-8 students
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during emergency situations
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and families to develop and implement intervention plans
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records in compliance with district and legal requirements
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to support student well-being
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies accordingly

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) in Social Work or Counseling required
  • Experience working with school-aged children, preferably K-8
  • Strong knowledge of counseling techniques, social work principles, and crisis intervention
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Position Details:

  • Location: Darien, IL
  • Duration: Contract for 2025-2026 school year
  • Schedule: Part-time preferred (2-3 days per week) with flexibility to move to full-time based on school needs after a three-month evaluation
  • Caseload: One K-8 school

Support is provided by district supervision through paraprofessionals, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), enhancing team collaboration and student care.
