Position Overview and Responsibilities The School Custodian, under the general supervision of the shift supervisor, maintains a clean, safe, and functional environment by performing cleaning, minor repairs, and event support duties. Key responsibilities include daily cleaning of floors, restrooms, and classrooms; managing trash disposal; performing light maintenance such as changing lightbulbs and unlocking doors; and assisting with event setups or groundskeeping tasks such as light snow removal. This is a full time hourly, second shift staff position; work hours are generally 2 to 10:30 pm. The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and commitment to safety protocols for both staff and students. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision. The School Custodian should also be able to: Work with limited supervision. Follow oral and written instructions. Form and maintain effective working relationships with others. Organize, plan, and prioritize time effectively. Multi-task and change directions easily. Be attentive to detail. Conduct themselves with integrity and dependability. Be a team player with a positive attitude, and exhibit kindness and concern for others. Requirements Education and Experience A high school graduate or higher preferred A valid driver’s license and MVR required General trade knowledge helpful At least 2-3 years of experience in a building trade such as carpentry, painting, masonry, electrical, or a combination of training and education Physical Requirements: Standing/sitting for long periods of time. Bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to reach at and above shoulder height to access higher areas of equipment, etc. Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone. Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR.
