Description DIRECTOR Westwood Preparatory Academy is looking for a Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of three education programs within children residential centers. Please see below for a description. The School Director will lead a school that is committed to the ongoing academic development and well-being of its students, teachers, and staff. The Director will provide strategic and instructional leadership and will oversee management of the day-to-day operations of the school. RESPONSIBILITIES The School Director oversees daily school operations regarding academics, day-to-day activities to ensure a successful school. He/she ensures high standards and expectations of student achievement and is accountable for student achievement and behavior. The School Director agrees with and is committed to the academic goals and philosophy of Westwood Preparatory Academy. He or she understands, abides by, and implements the policies, directives, and guidelines set forth by the management company. He or she must also: Leadership and Operations Provide ethical and motivational leadership appropriate to the cultural and political context in which the school operates Ensure responsive and effective systems and management of people and systems such that all students, parents, teachers, and staff are well supported Ensure an orderly, motivational, and aspirational culture and a strong school community where teaching, learning, and healthy relationships can thrive Develop and implement school policies Facilitate and maintain professional internal and external relations with the residential staff, stakeholders and guardians of all students. Develop mutually supportive relationships with parents, characterized by good communication strategies and the intent to involve parents and involving parents Curriculum and Instruction Encourage, develop, and monitor high levels of student achievement and learning through rigorous and engaging classes through implementation of the instructional framework Implement consistent, data-driven strategies and support systems for managing students with the most challenging behaviors in a deterrent and therapeutic manner that does not allow disruption of the norms of the school and the learning of other students, instruction, curriculum, and professional development Implement student support system that addresses students’ academic and behavioral struggles holistically and involves parents, teachers, and all relevant staff as appropriate Develop and maintain partnerships with external organizations that enrich the culture of the school through service opportunities, life and cultural experiences, educational and support programs, and other resources Job Type: Full-time Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Vision insurance Requirements Necessary and desirable qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following: ? Education Preferred: o Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (Administrative certification welcomed but not mandatory) ?
