JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Center for Prevention and Counseling has a bilingual preferred, full-time School Health Prevention Educator position available beginning 8/18/2025. This position will assist the School Health Coordinator in implementing the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Whole School, Community, Child School Health Model. The Center has a dynamic Prevention Team, committed to improving overall health and wellness and is excited to expand their Team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Human Services, Community Health, Public Health, or Education.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and 365, including Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Must possess a valid NJ driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for community events.
  • Billingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Prepare and present age appropriate educational and skill building presentations, programs, and curricula in various settings throughout Northern NJ including school and community settings.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records.
  • Process and outcome data collection required within all aspects of grant.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including one-on-one, public speaking and informative presentations.
  • Well organized, detailed oriented, and creative.

Responsibilities
  • Assist School Health Coordinator with securing schools interested in implementing the WSCC School Health Model in the areas of Union City, Clifton, Paterson, Newark, and Jersey City. Additional municipalities may be added.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with school administrators and school staff in designated and identified school districts.
  • Assist School Health Coordinator with technical assistance including establishing school health and wellness committees, completion of CDC School Health Index and School Health Improvement Plan.
  • Provide social and emotional curriculum teaching to students in designated school districts (Union City, Paterson, Jersey City, and additional districts).
  • Assist School Health Coordinator in engaging and securing community partners that align with school health goals and functions and can contribute to the overall improvement of student health
