Description
West Island School is looking for a School Health Professional on a part-time basis. This is a regular part-time contract (2 days per week) starting from mid-February 2026. Responsibilities Responsible for First Aid provision and medical care to students and staff to maintain optimum safety and health within the school community Operational: Respond to the needs of students or staff reporting sick, prioritise and deal with them as appropriate, including carrying out appropriate First Aid care Making arrangements to send staff or students home/ contacting parents/ hospitalisation, where necessary Updating medical records on Gateway on a regular basis. Maintain a log of all medical room visits and report as appropriate Responsible for maintaining the medical room in good condition, clean and sanitary Purchasing and maintaining adequate and appropriate supplies for the medical room, First Aid Kits (on-site and for excursions), and classroom “Bleed Boxes” throughout the year Responsible for the completion of Accident Report Forms Student Support: Liaising with tutors and pastoral staff on medical updates Be available to offer support and care to students on other issues e.g. bullying, family problems, etc. Referral to a counsellor, and pastoral staff as appropriate Assisting with First Aid for swimming gala and sports day PE activities occurring off-site Advising and educating students on follow-up care, general health matters, immunization, etc. (School Nurse only) Collate information for the Health Department’s Student Health Service Others: Checking First Aid kits placed throughout the school premises on a regular basis Making up, maintaining and keeping track of outdoor First Aid Kits for excursions during Horizons Week and for trips throughout the year Training staff and students as and when required on relevant aspects of health education Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as delegated, including mutually agreed-upon objectives Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed-upon objectives Reporting to: Director of Learning (Lower School) Requirements Qualifications & Experience: Licensed or Registered Nurse in Hong Kong (for the role of School Nurse) OR; Nursing degree, registration, or nursing license in non-Hong Kong jurisdictions (for the role of School Health Professional) 3-5 years of relevant experience in a hospital, clinic or education environment, including treating children Abilities & Knowledge: Applies ability to perform routine medical procedures and first aid treatment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with staff, students and parents CPR and First Aid provider A dynamic and committed individual with a keen interest in contributing to the development of the well-being provision of our students alongside the pastoral team Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
