Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The IT Technician is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, security, and reliability of the school’s IT systems and infrastructure. The role provides hands-on technical support for staff and students, including the management and maintenance of networks, servers, devices, and core applications used in the school environment.

This role is key to enabling a seamless teaching and learning experience by:

  • Ensuring IT resources are available, functional, and secure.
  • Responding quickly to incidents, minimising downtime and disruption to lessons.
  • Carrying out proactive maintenance to prevent issues before they impact users.
  • Managing device deployment and configuration, including Windows PCs, iPads, and Chromebooks.
  • Supporting account administration and access control within Active Directory and Google Workspace.
  • Acting as the onsite liaison between the school and Croft’s wider engineering team to resolve more complex issues efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide onsite support for school ICT systems, networks, and end-user devices.
  • Perform proactive and reactive maintenance on hardware, operating systems, and core applications.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network and system performance issues, escalating where required.
  • Support account management and permissions in Active Directory and Google Workspace.
  • Deploy and configure Windows PCs, iPads, and Chromebooks for staff and students.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, software licences, and configuration changes.
  • Ensure all tasks and incidents are logged, updated, and completed within SLA timelines.
  • Collaborate with school IT staff and Croft engineers to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Adhere to school safeguarding and data protection requirements.
