EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Valid Peace Officer Certification (TCLEOSE) (preferred)
  • Coursework or certification in public safety, emergency management, school safety, or related fields (preferred)

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Knowledge of emergency operations planning, NIMS, FEMA, and applicable safety law

  • Familiarity with criminal investigations, law enforcement procedures, and report writing
  • Proficiency in security-related technology (e.g., surveillance systems, access control, mass notification)
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and public relations skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication, including policy and report drafting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and respond effectively under pressure
  • Exceptional judgment, work ethic, and attention to detail

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3–5 years in safety, security, or law enforcement (preferred)

Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Ensure the safety and security of Leadership Prep School campuses, facilities, students, staff, and visitors. Coordinate emergency preparedness, law enforcement response, and safety initiatives. Serve as a certified School Marshal and lead efforts in security operations, emergency planning, and safety education.

SCHOOL MARSHAL DUTIES

  • Take law enforcement action when imminent threats arise
  • Maintain visibility and vigilance to deter unauthorized access and ensure campus safety
  • Collaborate with campus principals to develop safe procedures (e.g., drop-off/pick-up, graduation, and campus events)
  • Promote awareness of the School Marshal program through presentations and community engagement
  • Complete Servant Leader criminal history reviews and compliance with district safety guidelines
  • Complete all training and certification requirements to be a certified school Marshall in the State of Texas
