Overview School nurse within the West Des Moines School district. The nurse is responsible for all health issues with students during their schiool day. Uses the nursing process to promote positive health and development of students Assures all program-required health screenings are conducted. Provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process including pertinent and appropriate documentation. Exerts independent judgment, and maintains responsibility for the condition of assigned patients. Assures compliance with State mandated health requirements for school entry. Implements procedures for prevention of communicable diseases in the schools and alerts staff and parents/ guardians to health trends and issues. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program. License(s)/Certification(s): Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa . Experience: One year of nurseing experience required. Pediatric nursing experience preferred. Other: Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
