Responsibilities

THIS ROLE IS TERM TIME ONLY, PLUS 6 DAYS

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our students, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for learning. The School Nurse will be responsible for providing medical care, managing health issues, and collaborating with parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals to address the diverse needs of students.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· First Aid emergency cover for students, staff and visitors to site.
· Record and report accidents as per school procedure.
· Assess students who come to the Health Centre, administer appropriate medical support and ensure they return to their classes promptly if they are well enough.
· Liaise with parents and relevant medical professionals.
· Ensure that student health records are current and up to date.
· Provide confidential health advice to individual students; while sharing information appropriately with the safeguarding team.
· Establish and maintain records of all visits and dispensed medication.
· Maintain communication between the Health Centre and other staff involved in pastoral care / safeguarding staff to promote and maintain students’ health and welfare.
· Arrange external appointments for boarders when required e.g. hospital, physiotherapy.
· Organise the co-ordination of First Aid training across school staff.
· Health promotion in school as required.
· Support students with chronic illnesses or health needs e.g. allergies, contributing to Individual Health Care Plans as required in liaison with parents and external specialist professionals.
· Listen with sensitivity to all members of the school community with mental health issues offering support and referral as appropriate.
· Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
· Deliver care according to current guidelines and the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines and evidence-based care.
· Use technology as an aid to management in planning, implementation and monitoring, presenting and communicating information.
· Undertake mandatory and statutory training.

Pay: £16.78 per hour
Expected hours: 28 per week
