The training is a one-year full time course (50% theory & 50% practice) combining study and clinical learning in both university and practice placements. The course is at level 7, delivered by Greenwich University commencing in January 2026. The university will provide the theoretical knowledge and skills to ensure high quality, evidence-based assessment, delivery and evaluation of care in relation to child/family needs and will include safeguarding and the protection of children. Practice placement is in Waltham Forest and facilitated by the Practice Education Facilitators, practice supervisors and practice assessors within the Waltham Forest 0-19 services.
We work closely with the university to ensure seamless links between the theory and practice of these specialist roles. You will join our team as a full time Band 5 student (paid at mid-point band 5). Once you have completed the 12-months training and successfully qualify as a SCPHN health visitor you will be able to apply for employment as a band 6 health visitor through guaranteed employment with the GP Care Group
