Description Job Title: School Nurse Job Status: Part-time (60%), 10 Months Exempt Status: Non-Exempt Department: Student Life Reports to: Dean of Students Job Summary TKA is a Christ-centered school grounded in a Biblical worldview, and we are looking for a School Nurse who is a follower of Jesus Christ and is dedicated to the school’s Christ-centered mission. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide specialized assistance, immediate care, and appropriate referral for ill, medically fragile, and injured students; monitor, evaluate and assess students’ physical condition; administer first aid as necessary; provide health information to parents, students, and staff. Requirements Essential Job Functions Regular Activities Provide specialized health services assistance, evaluations, and information to students Administer first aid as necessary; document and report unusual or critical cases Monitor students' medical treatments, physical and mental health conditions and refer as needed Maintain communication with parents and all involved parties to encourage necessary treatment Collaborate with physicians and/or parents in order to maintain health regimen while at school Consult and collaborate with Student Deans regarding a variety of health related issues Administer and dispense medications and maintain proper records Serve as a resource and/or instructor in health education to students, teachers and administrators Interpret medical and nursing findings and makes recommendation to involved personnel Provide consultation/counseling to staff, parents and students regarding health related issues Resolve urgent safety and health care concerns to minimize infections per compliance directives Maintain confidentiality of health-related records, both manual and electronic Coordinate and implements all aspects of the school’s communicable disease prevention program Participate in a variety of wellness projects at school site Requisition, stock, and inventory medical, first aid and office supplies as necessary Ensure required monthly checks of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are performed Qualifications Education and Experience School Nurse Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (EC§49426) or a valid certificate of Public Health Nursing issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (EC§49423.5) Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university Current BLS/CPR and First Aid certifications 3+ years of experience required Skills and Abilities Ability to facilitate small and large groups of people in a variety of settings Able to design health care plans for individual students Strong leadership qualities and mentoring skills Excellent skills in communicating both orally and in written form Able to work both independently and in a team setting Demonstrated ability to lead by example Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite Ability to learn new computer software systems Core Characteristics Commitment to loving and serving Jesus Christ and supporting the school’s mission Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment Positive, flexible, resourceful and solution-oriented Able to understand, love, and relate to students Must be active (or pursuing) community in a local Christian body of believers Must have compatible theology in line with TKA's Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Agreement Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Required to use the computer throughout the day Work will be performed from the campus Will move throughout the campus during the day May occasionally have to lift up to 20 pounds Work is generally performed, August-May The months listed are approximate, and the annual start and end date will be dictated by the school calendar and the department’s needs. This position will work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 am-3:00 pm Salary & Benefits Pay Grid: Nurse Pay Grid Range: $24.12-$56.19 per hour This position is paid based on a preset salary grid, and the actual salary will be determined by applicable education and experience as determined by the Human Resources department. The starting pay listed reflects this position's minimum experience and education requirements. The top pay range represents the top of the pay grid for this position. It is rare for a candidate to enter this position at the top of the pay grid. Most candidates can expect to enter in the lower to middle section of the pay grid, depending on experience and education.
