RESEARCH ASSISTANT (M/F/D) (PAY SCALE E 13 TV-L, UP TO 100%)

The Department of Biology/Chemistry at the University of Osnabrück is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in the field of Research Data Management to commence work at the earliest possible date.
This position is temporary limited until 29.02.2028. A prolongation is purposed.
We are hiring a bioinformatician (or a candidate with demonstrated equivalent experience) to develop concepts and tools related to research data management in biological imaging. The position is embedded in a collaborative network of universities and research institutes that are part of the NFDI4BIOIMAGE consortium. The consortium is part of the Federal and State National Research Data Infrastructure (https://www.nfdi.de/konsortien-nfdi4bioimage/). The focus of work within NFDI4BIOIMAGE is on all steps of the research data life cycle for microscopy and bioimage analysis with the goal of finding solutions for FAIR management of bioimage data, including standards for data file formats, tools for multimodal data integration, bioimage analysis workflows, and advanced training.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completed academic university degree with expertise in computer science, bioinformatics, data science, or a relevant field (preferably natural or information sciences) with at least two years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Java)
  • Good communication skills in English

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and experience in research data management, particularly in the area of metadata standards, especially related to biological dataExperience with general web technologies and web frameworks
  • Expert handling of complex data and interdisciplinary data sets
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
  • Knowledge of version control with Git
  • Work experience in a scientific environment
  • An academic way of thinking and working
  • Very good presentation and communication skills
  • An independent, structured approach to work and strong analytical skills
  • Strong ability to work in a team
  • Experience in interdisciplinary projects
