APPLICANTS MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Act 120 training as required under 53 Pa.C.S. Ch. 21 Subch. D (relating to municipal police officer education and training) or have graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
  • Employed as a State Trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Police Officer preferably with a community-oriented policing background or as a School Resource Officer.
  • PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History and FBI Background Check required.
  • Bachelor’s degree, SRO training, firearms instructor, EMT or Paramedic training preferred.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, the school community, and local law enforcement agencies.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • SRO training or equivalent school security personnel course.
  • School experience preferred.
  • DARE Certified preferred or willing to attend DARE class within 1 year.
  • Weapons Proficiency Qualifications and current certification.
  • Possess a valid PA Driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Demonstrate evidence of a strong mental health background.
  • Demonstrate effective use of 21st century technologies.
  • Ability to speak effectively before staff and public.
  • Experience and expertise operating a computer using various Software applications such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate appropriate professionalism and restraint at all times.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student and administrative matters.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with co-workers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
