Schedule: Full Time; Monday-Friday 7:30a - 4p; School Year: August - May Location: 43 E Stevenson Drive, Glendale Heights, IL 60139 The community you’ll be working with: UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks Alternative School, Grades 3-12 The role you’ll contribute: Provides direct and indirect Recreational Therapy/Physical Education in alternative school setting. Coordinates the therapeutic recreation programs, evaluating and assessing student needs, establishing goals, and implementing recreational programs to enhance rehabilitation. This includes providing diversion programs and leisure education aimed at improving the overall well-being of students. The value you’ll bring to the team: Leads physical education classes to students grades 3 through 12. Performs evaluations and re-evaluations according to department standards, establishing, implementing, and adapting individualized treatment plans for students, including goals, treatment activities, and frequency Develops, plans, and provides individual and group recreational therapy sessions daily, evaluates student progress and the effectiveness of recreational/leisure therapy interventions, adjusting plan accordingly. Collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure integrated care and optimal student outcomes. Monitors and adjusts therapy plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes. Maintains accurate documentation of therapy sessions and student progress. Utilizes evidence-based practices to enhance therapy effectiveness. Participates in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with best practices. Demonstrates efficient management and prioritization of student caseload, adjusting and adapting to changes in student census by altering working hours as needed to assist in other areas Provides age and developmentally appropriate education for students regarding the importance of continued participation in leisure activities, as well as exploration of new recreation and leisure activities. Other duties as assigned. The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed: Bachelor's Required Two or more years of Work Experience Preferred Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) Required Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Required NonViolent Crisis Intervention Program (CPI) Preferred
