Position Title: School Safety Officer (Armed & Unarmed)
Reports To: Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Various school campuses within assigned district

POSITION OVERVIEW

Black Knight Patrol is seeking professional, vigilant, and community-oriented School Safety Officers (both armed and unarmed) to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, and visitors across our partner school campuses. School Safety Officers play a critical role in preventing incidents, responding to emergencies, and serving as a positive presence that fosters trust and safety within the educational environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid California Guard Card (required).
• Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record for the last 5 years.
• Baton Permit (required).
• Pepper Spray (OC) Certification (required).
• Taser Certification (required).
• For Armed Positions: Valid BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and fingerprinting as required by BSIS and the school district.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience providing security services in a public school environment.
• Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) or equivalent training specific to educational settings.
• Former law enforcement, military, or other public safety experience is highly desirable.

• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
• Knowledge of security protocols, emergency response, and de-escalation techniques.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.

• Maintain a visible security presence on school campuses to deter unauthorized activity, violence, and other safety concerns.
• Monitor entrances, perimeters, parking lots, and high-traffic areas to ensure compliance with district rules and regulations.
• Conduct regular foot and/or vehicle patrols to identify and address safety hazards, suspicious activity, or policy violations.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, including medical incidents, fights, intrusions, or threats to students, staff, and visitors.
• Collaborate with school administrators, staff, and law enforcement to maintain a safe and secure campus environment.
• Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts and support positive student interactions.
• Complete accurate and timely incident reports, activity logs, and other required documentation.
• Monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and access control devices as assigned.
• Provide courteous assistance to students, staff, and visitors, reinforcing a safe and welcoming school atmosphere.
• For Armed School Safety Officers: Safely carry and maintain proficiency with an authorized firearm in accordance with BSIS regulations and Black Knight Patrol policy.
