THE TEANECK PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT SEEKS A SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER WHO WILL DIRECT AND INDIRECT SOCIAL WORK SERVICES TO SUPPORT STUDENTS FACING SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, OR BEHAVIORAL CHALLENGES THAT AFFECT THEIR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND OVERALL WELL-BEING. THEY COLLABORATE WITH STUDENTS, FAMILIES, SCHOOL STAFF, AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES THROUGH COUNSELING, BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT, CRISIS INTERVENTION, AND COORDINATION OF SERVICES.

- Serve as CST case manager addressing those personal, social, or emotional related to educational and social progress. Perform case management service with parents as an integral part of the task of assisting students, including meeting with parents.
- Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and furnishing information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student behavior; observe referred students in the classroom and other school settings.
- Serve as liaison between the school district and child and/or family agencies in terms of school placements for students outside the district. Provide parent training services and counsel parents toward improving home situations whereby more favorable conditions will be attained with regard to school work, behavior, attendance and interest.
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention to pupils.
- Assume case management responsibilities including pupil placement and evaluation of such placements and for identifying out of district placements, and monitor and provide case management responsibilities for these students.
- Serve as a member of the building Child Study Team in case conferences and develop I.E.P.s and behavioral plans.
- Evaluate the pupils adaptive social functioning and emotional development, observe students in the classroom and other settings and develop comprehensive reports.
- Responsible for the development and implementation Special Education students’ IEP.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 yrs CST experience preferred
- Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate with Social Worker endorsement.
- Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education.
Qualified candidates must have strong collaborative planning and performance assessment skills and a commitment to multicultural education; must be knowledgeable in a variety of teaching strategies; and demonstrate an ability to work harmoniously with diverse populations.
