We are seeking an Outreach Officer to join the Schools and Colleges Engagement team within the Corporate Marketing Directorate. This role supports the delivery of our Access and Participation Plan and Education Action Plan, with a focus on students who are care leavers or have care experience.
Working in partnership with the Essex Community Foundation, you will help develop and deliver face-to-face and virtual activities for primary, secondary, and Further Education students, both on and off campus. These progressive activities will aim to raise attainment and engagement.
A key aspect of the role involves identifying the barriers care-experienced students in East Anglia face in accessing education, with the goal of improving institutional support and informing best practices across the sector.
To succeed in this role, you should hold a degree and have experience working with diverse groups, from primary students to mature learners, and their parents, carers, and teachers. You’ll be knowledgeable about higher education pathways and passionate about supporting learners in their next steps. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, along with a talent for engaging groups, are essential.
The successful applicant will be based at our Chelmsford campus, with remote work options. Regular travel to schools, occasional campus travel, and some out-of-hours work are required.
Closing date: Monday 22 September 2025
Informal enquiries can be made to Georgia Downs, Schools and Colleges Senior Officer (Outreach), at georgia.downs@aru.ac.uk
