Description The science teacher must communicate effectively through a relational approach, encouraging students to take risks in learning and demonstrate learning in innovative ways. The science teacher is a part of the secondary faculty and reports to the secondary principal. All faculty members are expected to contribute to chapel and other spiritual development activities and other duties as assigned. The science teacher would be responsible for the following: High school chemistry honors (10th grade) Additional general high school or middle school science classes as assigned Major Responsibilities: Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans, including instructional objectives, learning activities, and assessments integrated with biblical foundations Utilize appropriate educational technology Create and evaluate appropriate instructional and assessment methods to measure student learning Maintain appropriate pacing per the curriculum guide Maintain a collaborative relationship with all members of the science department and other faculty Demonstrate the maturity to inspire student learning and understanding of the age group Maintain a positive classroom environment, conducive to learning yet open to questioning and participation Effectively communicate and partner with parents in the educational and spiritual development of students Support school initiatives and show support for student interests outside of the school day Requirements Requirements/Qualifications: Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in science, chemistry, or a related content area An Advanced Placement course may be assigned to this position in the future; must have the ability to teach AP biology, chemistry, or environmental science and receive AP training in the future Possess or be qualified to apply for a Professional Teaching Certificate from the Florida Department of Education Exhibit a strong faith and exemplary lifestyle.
