About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Science & Nutrition Manager to join us. You’ll play a critical role in shaping and protecting our Advanced Nutrition portfolio, supporting product development for China and global markets, and ensuring our nutritional value propositions are scientifically robust, commercially relevant, and future-focused. Working closely with Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing and Commercial teams, you’ll lead the development and application of nutrition frameworks, provide expert scientific advice, and connect Synlait with external industry and research networks. This is a senior technical role with high influence, but no direct people management. If you thrive at the intersection of science, product development and commercial impact, this is a unique opportunity to make a real difference. Key responsibilities of this role include: Leading the health and nutrition framework across powder products, including scientific justification for SAMR registration and audits for infant formula products produced for China Providing scientific validation of product value propositions through literature review, data analysis, and initiation of relevant research Acting as a trusted scientific advisor across product development, including infant, early life and adult nutrition Supporting powder product development systems and processes to enable successful NPD and commercialisation Monitoring global science and nutrition trends and translating insights into commercial opportunities and customer value Developing health and nutrition sales, marketing and customer-facing collateral Establishing and maintaining strong external networks with industry players, research institutes and regulatory bodies across ANZ and APAC Contributing to portfolio expansion through credible, science-based insights into emerging ingredients, bioactives and nutritional benefits If you are a science-led nutrition expert who enjoys influencing outcomes without managing people, we want to hear from you. Skills and experience The ideal candidate will bring: 10+ years’ experience in nutrition science, infant nutrition or dairy product development, including experience in New Zealand A Master’s or PhD in Nutritional Science, Food Technology, Pharmaceutical Science or a related discipline Strong experience supporting infant formula development and regulatory requirements, ideally including China market exposure Deep technical knowledge of protein bioactives, lactoferrin, and advanced nutrition ingredients (highly desirable) Proven experience defining and defending nutritional value propositions for commercial products Strong scientific writing, literature review and data interpretation capability The confidence to influence cross-functional teams and engage credibly with customers and external stakeholders Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to remain composed under pressure A collaborative, curious mindset with the courage to challenge thinking when there’s a better way About us – The Synlait Spirit Synlait is more than a global leader in milk nutrition – we're a purpose-led team that’s Doing Milk Differently For A Healthier World.
