The School for Young Performers is looking for a part-time science teacher for a student in Marylebone, London. The educator will work 3 hours/week in a fluid one-on-one classroom construct for the 2025-2026 school year. The educator is expected to be able to teach Physical Science with breadth, depth, and creativity. Hours are day-time, thus this is not an after-school position. As the goal is for 1:1 instruction, only local candidates open to in-person teaching will be considered. Do NOT apply if you live more than a 60-min drive/commute. There is the potential for further work for the right candidate. Preference for teachers with experience utilizing American curricula and working with students with dyslexia. Start date is Sept 2025.
Ideal candidates must have the following:
- A MINIMUM of 5 years experience teaching and/or tutoring science at an upper school, preferably in a private school setting, for Years 8-11 (Grades 7-10 for American schools)
-Experience with differentiation, especially for students with language-based differences
-Conscientious, creative, engaging, flexible, compassionate and professional
-Strong handle on keeping pace with curriculum, comfortable with creating lesson plans, assessments, projects and tests
-Strong lab skills/safety practices
-Experience working 1-on-1, small group classes or in homeschool constructs
-Ability to create interdisciplinary activities
- Availability between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm (approx; this is a 3 hr/week position, meaning sessions 2 times a week)
- Have a personal computer with email/MS Office AND a cell phone with access to email
